Fuel Cell Foam Or No Foam
No foam here 11 years so far with no issues that i m aware of used 15 gallon plastic cell.
Fuel cell foam or no foam. I have always had the foam in my fuel cells because i run it on the street too but with all the trouble i m having i m looking to eliminate any potential problems. The foam degrading is from running the tank cell empty and letting the foam dry out. Well first of all all oem tanks are baffled. A full tank of fuel weights about 120 pounds.
The foam takes up a small volume of the fuel cell so it doesn t change the capacity of the fuel cell by very much. Do i need the foam on the street. Some fuels will also do this if you let it sit to long in the cell. I have no experience with fuel cells but i would imagine for a street car you would absolutely need the foam.
The foam is still in good condition and doesn t show signs of breaking down afer 8 years. Full foam fuel safe circle track cell. However it plays two very important roles. When i redid the car in 2000 i bought a summit drag cell also full foam.
I ran that cell from 1989 2000 without any signs of the foam breaking down. The function most people know is that the foam keeps fuel from sloshing around in the turns.
